Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL QUESTIONS

How does the process work?

Secure your date by selecting your desired preservation pieces and completing the inquiry form. Once your event is over, you can drop off your bouquet locally or schedule a venue pickup. From there, the preservation process begins: your bouquet is carefully deconstructed, and each bloom is pressed and preserved to capture its beauty. After approximately six months, your custom artwork will be completed and shipped directly to your door or picked up at Pressed & Preserved Petals.

How long will it take?

Because the process of deconstructing, pressing, and reconstructing your flowers is highly detailed and time‑intensive, please anticipate an approximate turnaround time of six months.

How far in advance should I place my order?

Because I can only accept a limited number of bouquet preservation projects each week, securing your spot in advance is highly recommended. Once your wedding date and venue are confirmed, reserving your preservation service ensures availability and guarantees your bouquet will be beautifully transformed into a lasting keepsake.

How is payment handled?

Flowers can only be accepted once payment is made in full. After checkout, once your frame size, design style and color are selected, you will receive an email with complete instructions for bouquet drop-off or pick up.

Do you accept refunds?

Because each item is a unique, custom-made product, I cannot accept returns or provide refunds for any purchase. Please note that all sales are final, including those for gift cards.

Do you accept flowers from other types of celebrations or occasions?

Absolutely. Whatever the occasion, I’m grateful for the chance to help you preserve those memories.

FLOWERS, DESIGNS, & CHOSING A FRAME

How do I care for my flowers to ensure the highest quality for preservation?

  • Trim stems & keep in fresh water

  • Store in a cool, dark place

  • Don’t spray or water petals

  • Assign someone to care for flowers on the day of the event

  • Avoid bouquet toss to prevent damage

Will all of my flowers be preserved?

While every effort is made to preserve each stem, some flowers may not press successfully due to their variety or condition upon arrival. In these instances, I will use my professional discretion to select the best-preserved blooms and arrange them in a way that ensures a high-quality aesthetic for your final piece.

Do you accept all white bouquets?

I do accept all-white bouquets, but with a few conditions. To ensure a beautiful result, I look for arrangements that include a wide variety of flower types and plenty of greenery.

White flowers can be quite delicate; they tend to show bruising more easily during the pressing process and typically transition from a bright white to a creamy, vintage hue. Additionally, having various textures and greenery helps me to create a design with the depth and detail your bouquet deserves.

Can you press any flower?

I do my best to press every flower and piece of greenery, but not all blooms will make it through the process—and that’s completely normal. White flowers may darken, and thicker blooms can retain moisture and risk molding. While results vary by flower type, I carefully prepare each bloom and will reconstruct any that face challenges.

For the best outcome, natural, untreated flowers work best. Please ask your florist to avoid using preservatives.

Do the preserved flowers keep their original color?

Natural variations in color, tone, and appearance are expected during and after preservation, as they occur naturally when moisture is removed from organic materials.  While I take great care in preserving your blooms, I can’t guarantee the colors will remain exactly the same as the originals. Common changes include:

  • White flowers: May shift to cream, yellow, or light brown.

  • Red flowers: May deepen to a darker red, purple, or burgundy.

  • Blue flowers: May darken in tone.

  • Pink flowers: May change to dark pink or purple.

  • Rust-colored flowers: May shift to purple or mauve.

  • Blush flowers: May transition to cream, grayish green, or purple.

  • Purple flowers: May change to blue or grayish purple

Do you offer color correction?

I do offer color correction as an optional add‑on to gently enhance your dried flowers, bringing them closer to their original fresh tones.

This service helps revive color and slow the appearance of aging and fading. While I can’t guarantee an exact match to the original shades, I always aim to achieve the closest and most natural result without compromising the flowers’ delicate details.

As outlined in the terms and conditions and on this website, natural bouquets will naturally shift to softer, antique tones during the drying process and continue to age subtly over time.

Will my flowers fade over time?

Some flowers naturally hold their color better than others, and all organic materials will experience some fading over time. Subtle changes are a normal part of the aging process, and I find they add to the beauty and character of preserved florals.  To maintain color as long as possible, avoid placing your frame in direct sunlight or in warm, humid areas.

Do you preserve dried flowers?

Because dried flowers are fragile and don’t press effectively, I am only able to press and preserve fresh florals.  However, I do offer bouquet recreation services by partnering with local florists who rebuild your arrangement using photos of the original florals and greenery. There’s no additional fee for this service beyond the cost of the flowers and greens, which will be paid to Pressed & Preserved Petals when the florist order is placed. Please note that I always aim to source the closest possible matches, but seasonal availability, location, and other factors may influence the final look.

Do you return any unused flowers?

Please note that I only press the flowers necessary to complete your commissioned frame. I am unable to store or return any additional flowers or greenery not used in the final design.

Do you return any accessories or keepsakes attached to my bouquet?

Please remove any sentimental items (such as ribbons or charms) before delivery. Unless specifically requested and noted in your order, these items will not be stored or returned.

Do you provide a preview of the design before it is finished?

Yes, A custom layout will be created and a design preview will be shared with you for review before final framing. Your first design proof is complimentary and includes the opportunity to request adjustments to the layout. Any subsequent revisions beyond the initial proof will require an additional design fee. Final framing will begin once the design proof has been approved.

How does a preserved bouquet differ from the original?

I do not recreate your bouquet as an exact replica. Instead, I honor your flowers by giving them a new life—transforming them into a timeless piece of art. Each bloom is beautifully unique; some may look different than you remember, others may gently shrink as they dry. This natural preservation process protects your florals, allowing them to be cherished for years rather than returning to the earth.

As with all natural elements, change is part of the journey. Colors will evolve, soften, and fade over time—an organic reminder of the fleeting beauty your flowers once held.

Again, If you envision something particular, I would be delighted to create it with you. Feel free to contact me to set up a consultation.

Which frame size is right for me?

Most standard full bouquets are beautifully suited for either an 11x14 or 16x20. The 11x14 offers an artful highlight of select blooms, while the 16x20 elegantly showcases the bouquet in its entirety.  Additional flowers can always be sent to accommodate a bigger frame size. Additional flowers can always be sent to accommodate a bigger frame size.

CARING FOR YOUR FRAME

Remove the frame immediately from its package upon arrival.  Leaving your frame boxed for long periods restricts airflow, which may accelerate the aging of the blooms.

To maintain your frame, gently dust it with a microfiber cloth on a regular basis.

Keep your frame out of direct sunlight to preserve the color of the flowers; indirect light or shaded areas work best.

To protect your frame and pressed flowers, avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or high humidity.  Avoid placing your framed florals in areas such as bathrooms, sunrooms and near fireplaces.
